Settlers, Inc. Programs

Settlers, Inc. offers a series of "hands-on" history programs. Costumed instructors share their expertise in hand arts and related history. These programs are open to the public by advance registration. Programs may be taken individually for $15 for Settler members and $20 for non-members, or as a series of six included in the $60 Settler Hand Arts Series Membership.

Celebrating Settlers, Inc. programs for 51 Years

Settlers invite you to join their 2022-2023 Series of Hand-Arts Classes. Programs will include the life style and interests of the residents as life progressed from a log house by the river to a stately brick mansion beside the street.

Series Membership = $60. Individual classes are $20 per person for non-members.

Series Programs are open to anyone 14 years old or older (ages 14-18 must attend with an adult).

Advance reservations are required.

Morning Series – doors open at 9:00 a.m. for refreshments, program display and social time. Program is from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

The Log House will be open for walk-through tours during the West Central Historic Home Tour hours of 11:00 a.m. – 5 p.m. No admission charge. (260) 424-7212.

September 17 & 18, 2022
Settlers' Pioneer Village - Johnny Appleseed Festival
Saturday 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.; Sunday 10:00 a.m.–5 p.m. Johnny Appleseed/Archer Park, 1502 Harry W. Baals Drive, Fort Wayne, IN. Free admission; charge for parking (free parking at IPFW with shuttle to JA Festival). Costumed Settlers demonstrate black pot cooking and hand arts; Food Sales: Ham & Beans, Chicken Corn Chowder, Beef Stew, Apples & Caramel Sauce, Cornbread & Butter, Sassafras Tea & Lemonade.
You are invited to be a "Settler-for-a day" and volunteer for a few hours, a day, or the week-end to help in one of the areas, serving food, stoking fires, stirring stew pots or demonstrating a historic hand art, such as needlework, crochet, basketry, etc. —Make this a family affair—Men and children over 10 years of age, are also invited to help. Herb and Perennial Plant Sale
Settlers' Herb and Perennial Plant Sale will be May 5, 10 am - 4 pm in the Swinney House basement and on the west lawn. Proceeds from sale of commercially grown plants and perennial diggings from local gardens support maintenance and restoration of the Homestead.
